Medical Weight Loss Success with OPTIFAST® in Denton Texas
OPTIFAST is more than just a weight loss diet; it’s a Comprehensive Medical Weight Loss Program that can enhance your health, vitality, and enjoyment of life. The OPTIFAST Program combines a full meal replacement diet, medical supervision, and lifestyle change in order to help people achieve and maintain significant weight loss.
After completing a thorough medical history and physical, patients who qualify for the OPTIFAST Medical Weight Loss Program receive an 800 – 1280 calorie diet plan depending on their BMI (Body Mass Index). The diet itself is composed of great tasting, protein-rich OPTIFAST meal replacement formulas and nutrition bars.
Patients participating in our OPTIFAST Medical Weight Loss program visit clinic once each week. During each visit they receive medical monitoring to ensure that they are losing weight as quickly and safely as possible, and to adjust the doses of any medications they may be taking to treat chronic weigh-related conditions. They also attend a group lifestyle education session. These sessions or classes are designed to help participants modify their nutrition, activity, and personal behaviors in order to lose weight and keep it off. Research has shown that life – long weight management is difficult to achieve unless a person addresses and modifies each of these lifestyle components.
Our mission is to treat the ‘whole you,’ not just your weight.
Medical Weight Loss Program in Denton, Texas
Full Meal Replacement Program with OPTIFAST
This medical weight loss program was designed for patients that have a BMI > 30 (greater than 50 pounds overweight) or are at high risk for developing related conditions such as diabetes, heart and blood vessel problems, or high cholesterol.
This program provides you with a medically supervised 800 calorie diet where you will replace normal foods with the OPTIFAST, meal replacement shakes, soups and bars.
The program lasts 18 weeks and it is divided in 2 phases.
Phase I: Active weight loss
- During this phase you may lose between 2-7 pounds per week.
- Participants receive weekly education and support to insure that they are continuing to meet their weight loss goals
- Individual support is available through weekly visits with our Nurse Practitioner who specializes in weight management.
- On average, you will consume 5 meal replacement products each day, providing you with an 800 calorie diet. A higher calorie diet plan and additional products may be provided for you based on your individual needs.
When a maximum of 20 weeks on full formula is completed, individuals have several options:
- Continue their weight loss at a slower pace on Partial OPTIFAST or
- Move into the Transition Phase
Phase II: Transition
- During this phase you will continue with moderate weight loss but it will be at a slower rate of approximately 1 – 2 pounds per week.
- Normal meals will be gradually introduced during this time, while decreasing the actual meal replacement formula products.
- This phase generally takes 4 – 6 weeks to complete.
During the program you will receive medical monitoring and laboratory work as needed to ensure you remain healthy and are tolerating the weight loss properly. You will also attend weekly Lifestyle and Nutrition Education classes as well as weekly ‘weigh-ins’, blood pressure checks and food & exercise journal monitoring.
The full formula portion of the OPTIFAST Medical Weight Loss Program can be extended beyond 12 weeks for people who have a significant amount of excess weight to lose.
Partial Meal Replacement Program with OPTIFAST
We also offer a weight loss program featuring a partial formula OPTIFAST diet. In this program, OPTIFAST meal replacement products are used in place of 2 meals and a snack each day.
The average national weight loss for patients following a partial formula diet is 33 pounds in 18 weeks.
OPTIFAST program lengths vary, depending on the desired weight loss.
Individuals choosing this program receive the same education as in the Full Formula program. Medical monitoring is less frequent during this program. Individual support from our Nurse Practitioner will occur monthly, based on individual needs.
OPTIFAST Maintenance Phase
This long-term phase begins after transition and is on-going.
This phase includes education courses that reinforce the positive behavior needed for life-long success. Studies have shown that people who stay involved in a maintenance program after losing weight are more likely to maintain that weight loss long term. Individuals who have completed Full Formula or Partial Formula programs are strongly encouraged to participate in this program.
Some individuals chose to use a small amount of OPTIFAST meal replacement products on a daily basis as part of the maintenance diet plan.
Education classes and support group are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 5 – 6 pm.
