Getting Started

There are many decisions to be made and requirements to be completed before we can schedule you for Bariatric Surgery.  Because each insurance carrier has different requirements for eligibility and a different series of steps to complete, exactly how smooth your progress through the process will be is difficult to say. Rest assured we are here to support, educate, guide, and assist you as much as we possibly can.

1. Reserve a seat for our Free Education Seminar:

Before doing anything else we want you to be sure that Bariatric Surgery is the right treatment choice for you.

When you sign up for the Free Seminar we will send you a package with information and a few documents that you should complete and bring with you.

We want you to have support through this entire process so please feel free to schedule a spot for a family member or friend so they can learn what you will be experiencing.

2. Attend the Education Seminar

Dr. Daryl Stewart will conduct a 3 hour educational seminar where he will provide you with a comprehensive overview on the LAP-BAND, Roux-en-Y, and Duodenal Switch procedures that he performs as part of our bariatric program.

Dr. Stewart will discuss the risks, possible complication, success rate and expected outcomes of each procedure so that you are well informed about every aspect of the surgery.

3. Medical Consultation

Following the seminar we will schedule a medical consultation with Dr. Stewart. After a comprehensive evaluation, he will discuss the bariatric surgery options that are most appropriate for you and answer all of your questions and concerns.

4. Insurance Review

If you decide to proceed with bariatric surgery, you will then meet with Leah our surgical coordinator who will review your insurance carriers eligibility criteria, estimated out of pocket surgical costs, and payment options that are available should you need them.

5. Schedule Procedure

After all of your insurance criteria are met we will schedule you with a date for the procedure you and Dr. Stewart have decided upon.

6. Nutrition Education

Two weeks prior to surgery you will attend a nutrition education class. You will be instructed on how to prepare before your bariatric surgery and will have a complete overview of nutrition requirements and how to meet them following the procedure.

7. Pre-Op Medical Visit

Dr. Stewart will meet with you a few days prior to your surgery to ensure that everything is in place, you are informed about what to expect before, during and after surgery and to answer any final questions that you have.
